Definition
Hairpin lace is made on an adjustable fork or loom: yarn wraps alternately around each prong while the hook works single crochets down the middle, producing a braid of loops.
Overview
The finished strips are joined loop-to-loop, braided or gathered, so one simple braid yields very different fabrics depending on assembly.
It is fast for the amount of surface it covers, which makes it attractive for shawls and light summer garments.
Characteristics
- Requires a hairpin fork or loom
- Strips joined after making
- Very open, very fast to produce
