Definition
Hairpin lace, also called hairpin crochet, uses an adjustable U-shaped loom so that yarn loops extend evenly on either side of a central crocheted spine.
Overview
Each finished strip looks like a fringe on both sides of a narrow braid. Strips are then joined — twisted, braided or crocheted together — to build shawls, scarves and blanket panels with a very high ratio of drape to yarn used.
Loop width is set by the distance between the prongs, so the same yarn can produce dense narrow lace or dramatically airy panels simply by changing the frame setting.
