Definition
Wiggly crochet builds a grid or mesh base first, then works dense rows of stitches along the bars of that grid so they ruffle upward.
Overview
Because the ruffles are worked into an existing base, they can follow curves and cross one another, creating an almost woven relief pattern.
It is dense and hard-wearing, traditionally used for hot pads, trivets and rugs where thickness is an advantage.
Characteristics
- Ruffled ridges standing off a mesh ground
- Very thick and dense
- Uses a lot of yarn for its area
Typical uses
- Hot pads and trivets
- Small rugs
- Decorative mats
