Definition
Continuous crochet plans a route through a design — often a grid of motifs — that allows the whole piece to be worked from a single strand without fastening off.
Overview
The advantage is obvious: almost no ends to weave in, and no seams to weaken. Published continuous motif blankets can contain a hundred squares yet need only two ends secured.
The cost is concentration. The order in which motifs are worked and where the yarn travels must be followed exactly, so the technique suits patient makers working from clear charts.
Characteristics
- One strand, minimal ends to weave
- Motif order is fixed by the routing plan
- Seamless, even fabric
Typical uses
- Motif blankets
- Table linen
- Shawls
